Patch 9.2 of WoW Shadowlands already has some cool features. We build our own mounts, learn a new language, and explore a world full of new creatures that were virtually created in the petri dish of the first.
But the funniest thing to me is that in the preview video for patch 9.2, they try to sell the water in Zereth Mortis as a feature. And what's even funnier is that players are buying it from Blizzard. I'm telling you: don't fall for the water propaganda!
Just fast forward to minute 01:10 in the preview video. Senior level designer Sara Wons tells us about an alien world where we walk on water for some reason. Zereth Mortis is meant to look as "alien" and unique as possible. Starting at 2:55 in the video, Enviroment Supervisor Gabe Gonzalez explains that it's water like we've never seen before. It is actually water that we can walk on! Wow (buy now )! And underneath the water are creatures that live there! Double wow! I'm all over the place (not really).
And no no, Waterwalking or Icy Paths from Death Knight are not the same thing. This is brand new over-water walking!
Ok, calm down, it's just water....
The fact that water is being touted as some sort of new feature is really funny to me. Don't get me wrong, this is not meant to be a rant. But I find it much funnier that some WoW content creators are actually marveling at the blue wetness on the PTR of Patch 9.2 through the water propagandaand.... testing the water...
Recently, I watched guild leader Max from Limit in his stream as he bounced on the water for a while to check out after how many bounces on the surface a puddle visually appears and when it doesn't. He was completely taken with the idea of being able to walk on water. As if that was something completely new in WoW, as if he had discovered something like the possibility to fly or something similar for the first time.
Imagine: there you are exploring an alien planet for the first time, so to speak, and the most exciting thing is water....
So the developers' water propaganda has borne fruit.
WoW, so you don't really walk on the water like usual, but your feet get a little wet in the process? THAT'S AMAZING!!!
And by the way: "Half sinking in water" is of course an exaggeration, only the soles of your hero should be waterproof, the rest is THE SAME KIND OF WATERWALKING AS YEARS AGO!
Sorry for the capslog, didn't mean to be a rant.
Please tell me that only I find the reactions to new water in WoW a bit exaggerated. Do you think if it hadn't been mentioned in the Patch 9.2 video that WoW players would even be talking about it? I'm curious to hear your opinions in the comments.Support buffed - it only takes a minute. Thanks!
