The developers at Blizzard Entertainment launched a call to the WoW community in the fall of 2020. In a mount contest, WoW fans and all sorts of enthusiastic mount collectors were allowed to vote on five unusual mount concepts. The winner of the vote was then brought to life by Blizzard's development team. The winning mount was decided after only a short time.

Of all the fan concepts, the Wandering Urtum finally made the running. However, the developers of World of Warcraft liked the idea of community mounts so much that they did not completely discard the other fan concepts. The sailing magic foliant, which came in third place in the 2020 vote, eventually made it into the game as a mount. The magic book, which allows you to sail through the air, is the appropriate reward for players who have completed all the challenges in the Mage Tower (Time Migration: Legion).

The curious caterpillar
However, even the runner-up in the community mount vote didn't let go of some WoW fans. We're talking about the caterpillar, which was originally described with the following words:
- ... of a curious caterpillar. Unlike Ottfried Fischer's caterpillar in "The Great Crawl," however, it is unlikely to become a "beautiful butterfly."
WoW fan and 3D artist named The_Other_Zelda was so excited by the idea that he immediately designed his own caterpillar mount. The fat hulk received consistently positive feedback in various WoW forums. The caterpillar impresses not only with an unusual design, but also with cool walking and flying animation.
